Tess Burleson, C.P.A., M.B.A. TGen Chief Operating Officer & President, TGen Accelerators. Tess Burleson's role involves oversight of administrative and operational support divisions, development of basic core infrastructure in support of the operation across all TGen organizations, and strategic business ventures and collaborations. Ms. Burleson has over 17 years of progressive experience in advising and developing key business support operations across a variety of industries, including healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biomedical research and development. Her career began with a national (big 4) accounting firm, and most recently, she served as President and Chief Executive Officer of a multi-state clinical research company and Chief Financial Officer for a large basic biomedical research organization. Her experience in healthcare, basic biomedical research and with pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations in the drug development arena provides her with the expertise and business acumen to ensure continued growth for an organization as progressive and dynamic- in both research and development- as TGen to ensure bench to bedside capabilities. She has successfully managed both for profit and non-profit business concerns with an affinity for start ups and developing basic infrastructure, processes, metrics, and team building. In addition to her work in the private sector, Ms. Burleson has had experience with various federal, state, and local agencies. Most notably, she served as Program Director for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on basic infrastructure development for core services. Her experience in evaluating and advising on key infrastructure for public sector clients has provided her with an excellent understanding of the inter-workings of these organizations and how to work within the parameters typically present in them and provides a basis of understanding for the funding mechanisms available within them.
